The Boston-China Connection: a personal journey of discovery is presented by Tom Paine. Over his career as a landscape architect, Wellesley resident Tom Paine spent two years working in Asia, a year in Taiwan in the 1970s and a year in Shanghai in 2008, with numerous subsequent working visits. His bilingual book on sustainable and accessible public open space design "Cities with Heart" was published in Beijing in 2015.The presentation also delves into Tom's family connection to the Old China Trade, which was formative in the relationship between China and America. Along the way the presntation will reveal unexpected and fascinating ways in which our worlds intersect and overlap, and will continue to do so despite the current atmosphere.
