Join us for a discussion of Pompeii by Robert HarrisCopies available at the second floor Information Desk. New members are always welcome!

Pompeii is a novel by Robert Harris which blends historical fiction with the real-life eruption of Mount Vesuvius on 24 August 79 AD, which overwhelmed the town of Pompeii and its vicinity. The novel is notable for its references to various aspects of volcanology.  Harris’ novel tells the story of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, the volcano that destroyed the city of Pompeii, through the experiences of Marcus Attilus, the aquarius (or engineer) of the Aqua Augustus.
