Join us for an evening with author, Cynthia Wight Rossano. Her latest charming book, Junkets with Julia: Cheery Memories of Julia Child, is illustrated by Mark Steele, and pays a small tribute to the author’s friend of many years, Julia Child, the renowned ‘French Chef,’ who was arguably the most famous cook of her time throughout the culinary world. The books she wrote, the books written about her, the television programs, movies, and SNL skits are legendary, and it was Julia — with her inimitable voice in her inimitable style — who saved us from endless Jello salads and tuna fish casseroles.

The book highlights a selection of junkets shared by Julia and the author from their first meeting in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Julia's death in Montecito, California. Their adventures include junkets to various well-known locations, topped by their unforgettable crossing from the US to the UK aboard the majestic QE2. Running through the book is a ribbon of a curious, flourishing, deep and lasting friendship, that of a renowned friend who knew everything there is to know about the fine arts of the kitchen, and her friend who considered peanut butter sandwiches the ne plus ultra of fine dining.
